The 138th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) will be held in Guangzhou from Oct 15 to Nov 4. Covering a total exhibition area of about 1.55 million square meters and 55 exhibition zones, it is expected to attract more than 30,000 enterprises.
Exhibits will include industrial automation, intelligent manufacturing, new energy vehicles, household appliances, and consumer products. The import exhibition area will cover about 30,000 square meters, featuring exhibitors from about 50 countries and regions.
The fair will cut booth fees for export exhibitors by 50 percent. Additionally, booths in rural vitalization and other special zones will stay rent-free, according to He Yadong, spokesperson for the General Office of the Ministry of Commerce, announced on Sept 18.
The first batch of exhibits for the 138th Canton Fair was cleared by customs at Nansha Port in Guangzhou on Sept 16.
The shipment from Egypt included 103 household appliances such as water heaters, washing machines, and air conditioners, weighing 6,248 kilograms. It set a record as the heaviest single batch of imported exhibits in Canton Fair history.
Unionaire, a well-known Egyptian home appliance manufacturer, produced the appliances. The company holds approximately 35 percent of Egypt's air-conditioning market share, mainly exporting its products to Africa and the Middle East.
Fast-track channels for imported exhibits and buyers are available at major ports, including Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Nansha Port, and Pazhou Ferry Terminal. During the fair, exhibits temporarily imported under the official exhibitor list will receive on-site supervision and be exempt from tax guarantee requirements.
