Guangdong, Kyrgyzstan seek deeper economic, cultural ties

Ma Wenfeng, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, met with Ersynt Jamanqulov, the new Consul General of Kyrgyzstan in Guangzhou, on Feb 3.

Ma congratulated Consul General Jamanqulov on his new role and expressed Guangdong's willingness to make use of the 2026 "Year of High-Quality Cooperation between China and Central Asia" to enhance collaboration with Kyrgyzstan. Key areas include trade, investment, Belt and Road cooperation, education, and tourism.

Jamanqulov highlighted Guangdong's significance as a major partner and popular destination for Kyrgyz citizens. He stated his commitment to attracting more Guangdong investment into Kyrgyzstan's industrial, agricultural, and energy sectors. He also proposed strengthening people-to-people exchanges through university partnerships and academic cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Director Qian Hongjie.
