Ma Wenfeng, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, met with Adnan Hayal, the consul general of the Republic of Turkey in Guangzhou, on Feb 11 to boost bilateral cooperation.

Ma extended a warm welcome to Hayal on his assumption of office. He noted that China and Türkiye, both ancient civilizations and important Global South members connected by the Silk Road, have seen fruitful cooperation in economy, trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges in recent years.

This year marks the 55th anniversary of China-Turkey diplomatic ties. Ma expressed that Guangdong stands ready to work with Turkey to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

Hayal expressed hope to take the 55th anniversary as an opportunity to achieve more practical results in bilateral exchanges and cooperation.

Deputy Director Qian Hongjie also attended the meeting.
