Ma Wenfeng, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, met with Lashinka Dammullage, Sri Lanka's newly appointed consul general in Guangzhou, on Feb 11.
Ma said that China and Sri Lanka share a long tradition of friendship, and the two countries will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year.
Under the strategic guidance of the two countries' leaders, he added, Guangdong stands ready to host a series of commemorative events to further consolidate subnational exchanges and contribute to deepening the China-Sri Lanka strategic cooperative partnership, rooted in mutual assistance and a long-standing, traditional friendship.
Dammullage thanked the office for the meeting and congratulated Ma on his new appointment. She expressed her expectation to work with all sectors in Guangdong to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in economic and trade investment, people-to-people exchanges, culture and tourism..
Deputy Director Qian Hongjie also attended the meeting.
