Ma Wenfeng, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong province, met with Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Hajji, the newly appointed consul general of Saudi Arabia in Guangzhou, on March 2.
Ma extended warm congratulations to Haji on his assumption of office. He said that with the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, China-Saudi Arabia ties have witnessed deeper engagement in economy and trade, as well as in people-to-people exchanges, with fruitful progress in high-level cooperation.
In this context, Guangdong is poised to work with Saudi Arabia to strengthen practical cooperation in various sectors, trade, investment and tourism. The aim is to align the Belt and Road Initiative with Saudi Vision 2030, elevating bilateral exchanges and cooperation to new heights.
Hajji stated that Saudi Arabia attaches high priority to cooperation with China. He spoke highly of Guangdong as one of China's most economically dynamic provinces. He pledged to promote further bilateral cooperation in fields including economy and trade, energy, science and education, and tourism.
Qian Hongjie, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province, also attended the meeting.
