Guangdong, Belgium boost business cooperation at promotion conference

Guangdong held a business promotion conference with Belgium on March 11 at the Guangdong Foreign Affairs Club, aiming to deepen bilateral trade and investment cooperation. 

The event was hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Provincial People's Government in collaboration with several provincial trade and economic departments. A Belgian business delegation, organized by Belgian think tank ETION and the World Economic Forum, attended the conference.

The Belgian delegates held matchmaking meetings with local enterprises in manufacturing and infrastructure to explore collaborative opportunities.

Chen Guangjun, deputy director of Guangdong's foreign affairs office, said that Guangdong and Belgium have witnessed fruitful exchanges in economy, trade, technology, culture, and sister-city ties under the framework of China-Belgium all-round friendly cooperation. He added that the visit offers a solid platform for enterprises from both sides to seek practical cooperation.

Yao Xinmin, vice chairman of Guangdong China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee, and Xie Zhen, director of Guangdong Investment Promotion Bureau, introduced Guangdong's economic performance and business environment, expressing a willingness to deepen ties with Belgian business communities.

Rudy Aernoudt, head of the Belgian delegation, along with other delegation representatives, spoke highly of Guangdong's economic vitality and acknowledged industrial complementarity between the two sides, pledging to expand mutually beneficial cooperation.

Wim Peeters, consul general of Belgium in Guangzhou, also attended the event.
