Guangdong, Namibia discuss deeper cooperation in trade, culture, tourism

Guangdong Vice Governor Zhang Guozhi met with Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, minister of International Relations and Trade of the Republic of Namibia, in Guangzhou on April 14, with both sides pledging to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, culture and tourism.

The meeting took place before the duo attended the opening reception of the 139th Canton Fair. Zhang emphasized Guangdong's commitment to fostering pragmatic and friendly cooperation with African nations, saying that there is strong complementarity and vast potential between the two sides. He expressed hope to leverage the "China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges" to boost bilateral visits and enhance mutual understanding.

Musavyi, who praised China's remarkable development achievements firsthand, stated that the visit aims to catalyze deeper collaboration with Guangdong in sectors including trade, investment, mineral development and logistics. She extended a welcome to Guangdong enterprises to explore investment opportunities in Namibia.

The engagement underscores Guangdong's ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with African partners and expand economic and cultural exchanges.
