Guangdong Governor Meng Fanli met with Kuok Khoon Hong, Chairman of Singapore-based Wilmar International, in Guangzhou on April 2, pledging to expand collaboration in agricultural processing, food manufacturing, and emerging health sectors.
Meng welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for Wilmar's longstanding contributions to Guangdong's economic and social development through grain and oil trade and processing projects. He encouraged the agribusiness giant to increase investment in existing sectors while exploring new ventures in functional foods, medical services, rehabilitation and elderly care. "Guangdong and relevant municipal governments will provide full support to facilitate Wilmar's growth in the province," Meng said.
Kuok thanked Guangdong authorities for their sustained support, citing the province's vast market potential, rich agricultural resources and favorable business environment as key drivers for expansion. He confirmed Wilmar's commitment to deploying additional projects in agricultural processing and the broader health industry to support Guangdong's high-quality development.
The meeting underscores Guangdong's ongoing efforts to attract foreign investment and strengthen ties with major multinational corporations to bolster regional economic momentum.
