China's Diplomacy in the New Era
Guangdong governor meets Walmart China CEO, seeks to expand cooperation

Guangdong Governor Meng Fanli met with Zhu Xiaojing, president and CEO of Walmart China, in Guangzhou on April 28, pledging continued support for the retail giant's expansion in the province.

Meng welcomed Zhu and praised Walmart's achievements throughout its 30 years in China. He said that Guangdong, as a major consumption, agricultural and industrial hub, offers significant opportunities for expanding commodity sales and procurement partnerships. He expressed hope that Walmart will accelerate its investment in the province by opening more stores and business entities, deepening cooperation in online retail, cross-border e-commerce and logistics, and sourcing more high-quality Guangdong products for its global supply chain.

Meng reaffirmed Guangdong's commitment to fostering a world-class business environment to support Walmart's growth.

Zhu thanked Guangdong for its strong backing, describing the province as Walmart's launching pad and home base in China. She said the company will continue deepening its Guangdong presence by advancing work on projects that are currently under construction, introducing new consumption formats, and integrating more local products into its procurement system.
