China's Diplomacy in the New Era
Guangdong foreign affairs office attends Africa day event

Chen Guangjun, deputy director-general of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, attended and addressed the Africa Day reception hosted by the African Consular Corps in Guangzhou on May 25.

He said that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and African countries, as well as the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges.

Over the past 70 years, the time-honored China-Africa friendship has grown ever closer, and bilateral cooperation has continued to deepen and bear fruit. Ranking first nationwide in China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, Guangdong serves as a vital hub linking the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with Africa and bridging domestic and overseas markets.

Guangdong stands ready to advance cooperation with African consulates in Guangzhou across trade, cultural tourism, public health, ecological protection and other fields.

Judite Albino da Costa, Consul General of Angola, thanked China for its consistent support, commended the economic benefits of China's zero-tariff policy for African diplomatic partners, and proposed further tapping into the potential for cooperation to achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
