On June 3, Zhang Guozhi, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and vice governor of Guangdong province, attended and addressed the United States Independence Day Reception hosted by the Consulate General of the United States in Guangzhou.
Zhang extended sincere greetings and best wishes to American friends working, studying and living in Guangdong. She said that friendly exchanges between Guangdong and the US date back many decades and are based on strong public support.
This year marks the 250th anniversary of US independence and the opening year of China's 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30). At this important historical juncture, Guangdong will seize the valuable opportunity of hosting the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting. It will tap into the potential for cooperation with US partners from all walks of life, deepen pragmatic collaboration in the economy and trade, culture and tourism, education, and local exchanges, and promote the steady and sound growth of a constructive, strategically stable China-US relationship to advance respective development and prosperity.
Nicholas Burns, US Ambassador to China, was present at the event.
