On June 8, Li Hongzhi, deputy director of Guangdong's provincial authority, met with Hou Zongyou, director of the China Representative Office of Argentina's La Rioja Province, in Guangzhou. The two sides reached a consensus on advancing football cooperation.

The two provinces have maintained close exchanges and fruitful cooperation across multiple sectors, signing a friendly cooperation memorandum in 2022.

During a Guangdong delegation's visit to Argentina this May, they agreed to strengthen football ties. Guangdong welcomes Argentine clubs for exchange programs, and eyes pragmatic cooperation in youth training, player exchanges and coach mutual visits.

Hou said La Rioja attaches great importance to cooperation with Guangdong. It facilitated a cooperation deal between Argentina's Huracán FC and a Guangzhou company in April, and expects to drive broader collaboration in youth, culture, tourism and education.
