On June 18, Ma Wenfeng, director general of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Provincial People's Government, met with Nuzhad Jaffar, the newly appointed Consul General of Iraq in Guangzhou, and his entourage.

Ma said that China and Iraq have maintained diplomatic relations for over 60 years, featuring rising political mutual trust and fruitful practical cooperation in diverse areas.
The Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office said it stands ready to cooperate closely with the Consulate General to deepen collaboration in trade and investment, energy infrastructure, medical education and people-to-people exchanges.
It will further advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and galvanize new momentum for China-Iraq ties.
Nuzhad Jaffar remarked that the Consulate General will keep facilitating more tangible cooperation results between Iraq and Guangdong in trade, science and education.
