China-Russia agricultural fair opens in Guangzhou to enhance bilateral ties

The China-Russia Agricultural Economic and Trade Fair took place in Guangzhou, Guangdong province from June 24 to 26, spearheaded by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

Over 100 Russian participants, including agricultural enterprises, industry associations and research institutions covering such fields as grain, oil, aquatic products, meat and dairy goods, as well as modern farming technologies, formed a delegation to attend the event.

Product exhibitions, one-on-one business matching events and industrial seminars were arranged to deliver a practical trading platform for market players from both sides.

Chen Guangjun, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, attended the opening ceremony on June 24. Chen also held talks with Maxim Borovoy, deputy minister of Russia’s Agriculture Ministry.

Yury Teplov, Russian Consul -General in Guangzhou, alongside representatives from Guangdong agricultural authorities and trade councils, also graced the launch.

Both sides agreed the two countries have much scope for collaboration in the realm of agriculture. They pledged to build more agricultural cooperation channels, scale up two-way farm product trade, and tap new opportunities for joint industrial development.
