Ma Wenfeng, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong province, attended the opening celebration luncheon of the Consulate General of the Republic of Kenya in Guangzhou and delivered a speech on Aug 4.

Ma noted that China and Kenya enjoy a time-honored friendship, while Guangdong has yielded positive outcomes in all-round exchanges and cooperation with Kenya under stable bilateral ties.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of China-Africa diplomatic relations as well as the 2026 China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges.

Guangdong stands ready to work with the Kenyan consulate to leverage the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and zero-tariff policy opportunities. It will also work to align the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with Kenya's Vision 2030 to inject new momentum into bilateral ties.

Coriel Sinoye, principal secretary of Kenya's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed gratitude to Guangdong for its support. He said the consulate would promote pragmatic cooperation with local authorities, businesses and academic institutions  for mutual benefit.
