China's Diplomacy in the New Era
Guidelines for construction of Green and Beautiful Guangdong

Guangdong province has stepped up implementation of six initiatives under its Green and Beautiful Guangdong ecological development program, with the goal of promoting harmonious coexistence between people and nature.

The six initiatives are outlined as follows:

Forest quality precision improvement: Uphold the principle of planting according to the environment and strengthen forest tending, forest enclosure for natural regeneration, and contiguous comprehensive management of forest resources.

Urban-rural greening and beautification: Promote the development of national forest cities across the province and create greener, more attractive places to live, where urban development and nature coexist.

Enhancement of green and beautiful protected areas: Strive to develop Nanling National Park and Danxiashan National Park, alongside an array of demonstration nature reserves and diverse park spaces. Promote the cultivation and restoration of 10,000-mu mangrove forests and elevate the quality and service functions of wetland ecosystems.

Improve green belt quality: Construct forest landscape belts along both sides of major expressway corridors, develop forest trails to link surrounding natural and cultural attractions, prioritize coastal ecological shoreline development and build high-quality coastal green and beautiful landscape belts.

Protect ancient and famous trees: Reinforce protection of ancient tree clusters and the development of ancient tree parks, carry out timely rescue and rejuvenation for endangered ancient and famous trees, improve the tiered management and protection system for ancient and famous tree resources.

Public participation in greening and conservation: Expand the province-wide voluntary tree-planting campaign and encourage people from all sectors of society to take part in ecological conservation, fostering broad public participation in the Green and Beautiful Guangdong initiative.
