2025 GDFAO Night: Diplomats toast intl unity

The Bai'etan GBA Art Center by the Pearl River hosted the 2025 GDFAO Night on Jan 9, organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, where diplomatic envoys gathered to foster global ties.

The event attracted nearly 200 attendees, including foreign consul generals in Guangzhou and their families as well as representatives from other consulates and Chinese entities involved in foreign affairs.

In his speech, Chen Guangjun, acting director-general of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, welcomed the guests. He emphasized that the foreign affairs office will continue to support and assist consulates general in their work in Guangdong, building a platform for diverse cooperation and shared development benefits.

Loh Tuck Keat, consul-general of Singapore in Guangzhou and deputy dean of Consular Corps in Guangzhou, expressed gratitude on behalf of the consular corps, highlighting the strong support and friendship they have received in Guangdong. He pledged continued support for the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province's efforts to promote friendly cooperation between consulates' respective countries and Guangdong.

This edition of the GDFAO Night, first held at the Guangdong Museum of Art in Bai'etan GBA Art Center, featured traditional Chinese opera performances, drone shows, and interactive booths showcasing intangible cultural heritage items such as wooden New Year paintings, children's paper-cutting, and calligraphy. These activities provided a space for guests to experience and appreciate Chinese art firsthand.

Wang Shaoqiang, curator of the Guangdong Museum of Art, warmly welcomed the attendees and expressed his hope for more cooperation projects with consulates general in the future.
