Chen Guangjun, deputy director general of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, met with a delegation from the Ministry of Health of Bangladesh in Guangzhou on April 13, exploring the potential for enhanced cooperation in healthcare and beyond.

Chen welcomed the delegation led by Bari Mohammad Nazmul, health adviser to the  Ministry of Health and Family Welfare,  Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.

He outlined Guangdong's status as China's most populous and economically advanced province and a leading medical hub in South China. Chen also noted that the "Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Guangzhou" innovation cluster recently topped the WIPO Global Innovation Index 2025.

Guangdong is accelerating growth in biomedicine and high-end medical devices while advancing international medical pilots, Chen said, thereby creating new opportunities for global investors. He expressed hope that the visit would spur more exchanges and pragmatic collaboration in health, economy, trade, and culture.

Nazmul thanked the hosts and highlighted the two nations' five-decade friendship. He anticipated closer ties under Bangladesh’s new government and saw vast potential for cooperation with Guangdong in technology, healthcare, new energy, the low-altitude economy, and talent training.

He also welcomed future Guangdong delegations to Bangladesh to advance finalized projects.
