Guangdong governor's Hungary visit bolsters bilateral relations

From May 15 to 17, Wang Weizhong, governor of Guangdong province, led a delegation on a visit to Hungary.

During the visit, Wang met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and other political figures, attended the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Hungary (Europe) Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference, and visited technology companies and research institutions.

During the meeting with Orban, Wang said that the elevation of China-Hungary relations to an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership creates a strong foundation for boosting cooperation between Guangdong and Hungary.

He emphasized Guangdong's commitment to implementing the consensus reached by the two countries' leaders and deepening cooperation in fields such as new energy, high-end manufacturing, digital economy, cross-border logistics, green economy, modern agriculture, talent cultivation, and cultural tourism.

Orban welcomed the Guangdong delegation, noting the solid foundation and strong potential for cooperation between Guangdong and Hungary.

He expressed hope for continued friendly exchanges and pragmatic cooperation, welcomed Guangdong enterprises to invest in Hungary, and aimed for win-win outcomes.

Wang and Orban also attended the inauguration ceremony of the BYD Europe headquarters.

On May 16, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Hungary (Europe) Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference was held in Budapest.

Wang delivered a keynote speech. He said there are direct flights and maritime routes connecting Guangdong to major European cities and ports, making Hungary a key investment and trade partner for Guangdong in Central and Eastern Europe.

Wang invited Hungarian and European enterprises to explore opportunities in Guangdong and the Greater Bay Area.

The conference attracted over 300 participants, including local political figures, entrepreneurs, and business association representatives. A total of 36 cooperation projects were reached, valued at approximately $3.85 billion, focusing on fields such as automobiles, intelligent manufacturing, and modern agriculture.
