China's Diplomacy in the New Era
Guinea opens consulate general in Guangzhou

The Consulate General of the Republic of Guinea opened in Guangzhou on April 25, becoming the 71st foreign consulate general in the city. Qian Hongjie, deputy director general of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.

Qian noted that the opening is particularly significant as 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of the China-Guinea comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. The move reflects Guinea's commitment to strengthening exchanges and cooperation with South China, especially Guangdong, and injects new momentum into bilateral relations, she said.

Ba Mamadou Djouldé, consul general of Guinea in Guangzhou, expressed gratitude for the support provided by the provincial foreign affairs office. He highlighted that over six decades of diplomatic ties, bilateral cooperation has not only brought economic vitality to Guinea but also served as an exemplary model of China-Africa collaboration. The consulate will act as a bridge to deepen practical cooperation with Guangdong, particularly in agriculture, mining and infrastructure development, he added.
