Over 100 new robotaxis have been added to the operation fleet of Ontime, a transportation service based in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, the company announced on March 9.

Pony.ai, a Chinese autonomous driving solution provider, delivered the vehicles. They are planned to be part of a commercial mixed-operation service combining human-driven ride-hailing and robotaxi services through the company's fully open robotaxi operation technology platform.

The additional vehicles mark the first public update to Ontime's robotaxi business since launching its robotaxi+ strategy early in July 2025.

Ontime and Pony.ai also signed a strategic cooperation agreement on March 19 to jointly develop a robotaxi fleet and collaborate on future operations.

Ontime's robotaxi fleet now numbers approximately 600 vehicles, which cover several hotspots in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The robotaxi sector has experienced a surge of business activity since early this year, with numerous companies rushing to secure their positions in anticipation of the market's explosive growth.

According to the latest report from Soochow Securities, the market size of China's robotaxi industry is projected to reach 83.1 billion yuan ($12.04 billion) by 2030 and further increase to 709.6 billion yuan by 2035.
