On May 27, the world's largest offshore converter station set off from Jiangsu province for Yangjiang, Guangdong province. Once installed offshore, it will become the energy hub for the Three Gorges Yangjiang Qingzhou 5 and 7 offshore wind farms. The fifteen-story-high giant does not generate power itself. It collects electricity from offshore wind turbines, converts it, and sends it ashore through about 90 km of submarine cables — like a "super heart" at sea.
