Guangdong, Malawi to boost ties in trade, tourism and digital economy

He Rusheng, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, met with Harris Stewart Potani, outgoing consul general of Malawi in Changsha on March 6.

He spoke highly of and thanked Potani for his efforts and contributions to advancing high-level exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong and Malawi in trade, investment, culture, and tourism during his term.

He said that, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, China-Malawi relations have reached a new level in recent years, with growing potential for cooperation in trade and investment, modern agriculture, tourism, energy, mining and healthcare.

He added that Guangdong stands ready to work with Malawi to further deepen practical cooperation across various fields within the framework of the China-Malawi strategic partnership, thereby enhancing bilateral relations.

Potani expressed sincere gratitude to the Foreign Affairs Office for its support during his tenure. He spoke highly of Guangdong as a pioneer in China's reform and opening-up and a key economic engine, and was deeply impressed by its dynamic economy, distinctive Lingnan culture, and friendly people.

He pledged to continue promoting friendship and practical cooperation between Guangdong and Malawi, and called for strengthened exchanges in agriculture, tourism, trade, investment and the digital economy.
